Circa 1890 to 1920, this Eastlake-style chair was originally used in a home's parlor where guests were entertained. Key features of an Eastlake are the wheels on the front legs and interesting wood detail (though never overly ornate as Eastlake specifically rejected its popular predecessors, Baroque, Rococco and Neoclassical). Eastlake was an early proponent of the fundamentals of industrial design - form follows function.

This Ladies Chair is short (36" at the back) and designed to enable dainty ladies to cross their legs modestly. The original was stuffed with ancient horsehair. The reimagined chair is stuffed with organic cotton and covered in heavy cotton duckcloth. Finished in high gloss acrylic.
